That’s right peoples – sharp shoulders are BACK! …What’s that I hear? …A collective yawn? Old news? Perhaps, but if constant bombardment by the AW09 Balmain-staple shoulder-sculpting silhouette has left you feeling somewhat smothered, take heart. This trend has legs, and it’s stepping across into a whole new dimension.
This look is evolving off the catwalk, and it’s more accessible than you might have realised. The days when shoulder pads would remain hidden, lurking sandwiched between layers of fabric and lining, are long gone. Our un-sung heroes have taken the stage, and the more exposed the better!
Styling works best when pads are featured beneath sheer fabrics with prints or texture. Think lace, fringing, or even your fave threadbare tee. Pop them in and secure with a bra clip or double-sided tape (teeny tiny safety pins will work too). Don’t be shy! It’s all about making a statement. Fortune favours the bold!
