You're viewing the classic version of The Blackmail which was in use from July 2009 until August 2011. The latest version of The Blackmail is now here.
The other night my fellow and I needed a late night snack. We looked into the fridge, and with hunger on our minds managed this. This is a throw-together rice omelette with leeks, carrots and spring onions – it was a complete success. The rice was already cooked but we threw egg through it. Put the veggies in the pan for to cook slightly, then added the eggy rice. A bit like fried rice, only you cook the bottom until golden, then flip it like in half like a pancake, then drizzle with oyster sauce. This is an any-time-of-the-day dish – you could drink it with beer or juice.

This weeks Cheeky Freak Of The Week is my new favourite website Booko. A little while back, Robbie sent me a link, and my life (or at least my book collection) hasn’t been the same since. In their own words, Booko is a site with a very simple goal – to find the cheapest place to buy books & DVDs in Australia, and it is! Type in the name of the book or DVD you want and Booko searches the online stores of the world for the ultimate best price, and it’s all in Australian dollars. Amazing!

Faile and Bast have got a wild website up for their current show Deluxx Fluxx which is on at Lazarides Gallery in London until March 27. The two artists have repurposed a bunch of old arcade machines for the show and even installed new, custom made games onto them which you can also play on the website. The games also feature music composed by Seth Jabour from Les Savy Fav. Not quite the same as being there but it’s pretty good.
Much is made of the apparent lack of time taken by Eddy Current Suppression Ring to record their critically acclaimed and award winning albums. Urban legend dictates that their debut was wrapped up in an afternoon over a few beers and word that their latest release Rush to Relax was done after only six hours in studio. Bassist Brad Barry tells Gabriel Knowles why those stories aren’t strictly true. Continue Reading…
Lady Gaga released her latest video ‘Telephone’ this week, creating a tidal wave of blog buzz and frenetic fashion press. The risque clip runs for an unholy 10 minutes, taking place in a colourfully twisted universe where jail-bait Gaga and femme-fatale accomplice Beyonce, embark upon a murderous rampage decimating an entire hick town in middle America.
Despite the the full frontal nudity (putting those tranny rumours to bed), cross-dressing girl-on-girl love scenes, and gratuitous jail-yard violence, its the ingenious fashion that steals the spotlight in this monster mini-movie. It’s as if all the raw and unsung talents of the fashion and beauty industries collaborated to let loose the untamed (and uncensored) wonders of their wildest imaginings, such is the intensity of the unstoppable onslaught of eye-candy Gaga has created. Take a look at stylist Nicola Formicetti’s blog for detailed style credits, and other juicy behind the scenes Gaga goodies. My faves would have to be the lilac v. black grand finale cowgirl gowns by Emile Pirlot – epic!
