Fresh starts all round today, the clean slate of Spring is upon us. What better way to get into the swing of things than with some fresh ink and a little history lesson from the good folk at Inkship. Some other good folk who don’t seem adverse to the idea of a tattoo or two have just set up a rather fine looking diner in inner-Sydney so we popped on down to check it out.
Italian for ‘half cold’, this class of semi-frozen deserts one of my favourites. Because I love semi-melted ice cream, it makes sense to me that this is not completely frozen.
Typically ice cream cakes or semi-frozen custards, semifreddo usually has the texture of frozen mousse, produced by combining ice cream and whipped cream.
This one was a vanilla and hazelnut semi, with pink sherbet and a dehydrated orange on top. It is the type of decadent desert Marie Antoinette would have eaten when she ran out of cake.
Drunk with sweet glass of William Downie Petit Manseng.
Mary Macdougall and Charlie Sofo (image) have brought together sixteen of their closest for one show, aptly titled Friends. Apparently the Sydney contingent are driving down together in a big bus, and Charlie Sofo is making a publication especially for the event.
Artists exhibiting are Lara Thoms, Bianca Hester, Tom Polo, David Capra, Anna John, Kate Mitchell, Pia Van Gelder, Bababa International, Garry Trinh, Corey Coda, Dan Bell, George Egerton-Warburton, Mary Macdougall and Charlie Sofo.

There are few more substantial ways to start your day than with three massive whole wheat pancakes stacked high with fresh fruit and dizzled in maple syrup. On a warm summer’s day, just a few hours out of New York city in a little town called Montauk, we went in search of a local pancake roadhouse to fill our hungry tummies. There, sitting waiting for us on the other side of the road was John’s Pancake House. Thanks to John, the interior of his pancake parlour had barely been touched since the 70s, and everyone inside was filling up on hearty sweet sugary fried batter with numerous toppings.
Though I could barely finish a third of this delicious colourful plate, the large bucksome waitress proceeded to tell me that ‘the trick’ was not to drink anything prior to consuming the fried cakes. Shame I had that coffee before hand.
Adidas are giving away complimentary shoes. Yes that’s right, they are for free.
All you’ve got to do is follow them on Facebook or Twitter so you now where they’re giving them away and turn up at the spot, if the shoes fits and you’re first on the scene, they’re yours. Sweet!
